As a member of Slimming World, I find the extra access you can get to the SW website really useful. However, I have become aware of quite a few very good Slimming World blogs as well, so I have been checking them out. It seems I am not alone in finding the Slimming World approach very helpful for losing weight.
I lost another 2.5 lbs at my last weigh in. However, I am on holiday for the next week or so, so I doubt I will lose any next time. My plan is not to gain any, if at all possible! Watch this space….
Anyway, back the blogs…. here are six of the best Slimming World blogs to give you inspiration if you want to lose a few pounds.
Six of the Best Slimming World Blogs
I really enjoyed reading twochubbycubs.com. It is so funny! The main writer, James, has clearly missed his vocation as a comedy writer.
As well as making me laugh all the way through (and who doesn’t need a laugh when they are on a diet?), there are over 500 delicious looking Slimming World friendly recipes too.
They now have a book available if you prefer your recipes in paper form.
Pinch of Nom
Pinch of Nom is one of the best known and popular blogs for Slimming World inspiration. Someone seems to mention it almost every time I go to my SW meeting.
It’s all about the food, with recipes so popular they are now available in book form. The feature I particularly liked was that you could search by type of food, occasion, low syn recipes, etc. They have a lot of dupes of well known junk food brands and takeaways.
What I didn’t like was the way the recipe pages are set out. You have to wade through so many links and photos that don’t relate to the recipe you want to make before you can get to the instructions.
The KFC Rice Box looks amazing, and I plan to make it. However, it is an illustration of what I mean about having to wade through so much stuff and I was wishing they would just get to the point!
Slimming Eats is run by a Londoner now living in Canada. They don’t have Slimming World clubs in Canada, but you can still join online, which is exactly what Siobhan did. She has turned the passion for cooking and food, which she says probably caused her to pile on the pounds in the first place, into a blog full of recipes, meal plans, advice and tips.
As regular readers will know, I always plan our meals as it saves time and money. So for me, the meal plans on Slimming Eats were particularly interesting.
Slimming World Survival
I really like the detail on slimmingworldsurvival.com. There is a lot of information and shopping lists on SW friendly foods and their syn values from UK supermarkets. Super helpful!
There are sections for vegetarians, vegans, lactose intolerant types such as myself and for those who need to eat gluten free.
For when you are out and about there is a big list of syn values of foods from places such as McDonald’s and Greggs, as well as information on low syn cakes and snacks. The recipes look good too.
This is a really useful website run by Emma, who created the blog to keep herself on track whilst she lost 20 lb.
The Slimming World Foodie
It was the SW friendly slow cooker dump dishes section that first caught my attention on the Slimming World Foodie blog. I love just throwing food in the slow cooker in the morning and coming home to delicious smells wafting from the kitchen.
I will definitely be trying the slow cooker pulled pork and will let you know how it turns out.
Pip, who writes the blog, says she is primarily concerned with health eating, although all of her recipes are SW friendly.
Fat Girl Skinny
Another of best Slimming World blogs I found is Fat Girl Skinny, written by Kirsty. She has obviously experimented a bit as she also includes information about Weight Watchers and the 5:2 diet.
There are useful shopping lists for those sticking to SW, loads of recipes and a ton of useful posts offering advice and information, such as this one detailing top tips for weight loss success from both Kirsty and her readers.
Most of the site is updated regularly, apart from the bit about Kirsty and her own weight loss. I would love an update! Anyway, it is another useful resource.
I hope you enjoyed my list of the best Slimming World blogs to give you inspiration on your weight loss journey. Are there any I have missed?
