This is a collaborative post.
Working from home seems to be the new norm. Whilst it was already a popular way to approach work, with many people having their own home business and remote working setups becoming cheaper and more accessible for many bigger companies, it’s definitely come into its own in the past year and a half.
And that’s a good thing! Because working from home really is the best way to work, even if it’s not the easiest thing to do at times. And this is a fact we’re going to explore a little more below. If you’re someone who’s having a mixed bag of working in your own environment, this is definitely the post for you!
More Time
When you’re working from home, you’re going to naturally have more time to yourself. You’re going to be able to pitch a much better work/life balance than an office or storefront would grant you, and that’s something a lot of people struggle with in the modern era.
Being able to decide your hours, and/or when you take breaks and how you spend them, can really help to boost your mental health as well. You can come and go from your desk without repercussion, because you’re still working, but you’re in a much more natural and fulfilling environment. That’s a very lucky thing to be able to say.
Much More Safety
Working from home is one of the safest ways to work, thanks to the fact that you’re isolated from the outside world and all of its dangers. And whilst that might not sound like an advantage at face value, it’s definitely proven to be useful in the current pandemic, as Wayne Blazejczyk explains in further detail.
Working from home allows you to be in your own environment, where control over what occurs is entirely yours, especially in terms of safety. You decide who comes in and who goes out, and you decide what kind of hygiene standard is kept, as well as what happens in case of emergency. And these can all mean you’re a lot safer day by day, and it definitely saves on insurance pay outs!
More Control
Following on from the point above, when you’re working from home, you have more control over everything you need to do for work. You have more flexibility, most of all, over your schedule and what you work on, and that’s the kind of choice everybody wants from their career.
Indeed, this amount of control helps you to steer your career in the direction you want it to go. It helps you to learn to say yes and no to opportunities, and to gain more confidence over your own position in the working world. And in a few years time, this kind of experience is going to be indispensable!
Working from home is the best working setup in the modern day and age for many reasons. But most of all, it gives you the freedom you need in your career.
