Transforming Your Driveway

Driveways are designed to last for years and years to come. However, there will come a time when your driveway needs replaced. Has that time come?

One of the most obvious signs that your driveway needs replaced is if there are big cracks in it. Of course, you could simply patch or repair the damage. However, this is not advised, as you are simply delaying the inevitable. You will need to address the problem later, and by this, we mean in the near future – perhaps even in the same year. Therefore, you can save yourself a lot of money and hassle by getting it replaced sooner rather than later.

Misalignment and sinking are other signs that your driveway needs replaced. Again, the problem will only get worse, and misaligned slabs can cause significant vehicle damage. You should also get in touch with a company providing garden driveway services if the concrete on your driveway is pitting or crumbling. This indicates that a new pour of concrete is required. Some people will attempt to patch the holes, but, again, this is a temporary measure and, therefore, it is only more expensive in the long run.

Do you know what sort of base is underneath your driveway? If so, it is worth bearing this in mind. For instance, areas with clay soil are more prone to shifting and moving, meaning you may need driveway services more regularly.

Paving options for your driveway are varied. There are many different materials to choose from, and many different designs that can be created from them. With that being said, below we will take a look at each paving material in further detail to give you a helping hand.

One of the most popular options when taking advantage of paving services is cast-in-place concrete. Concrete is a standard choice because it is easy to maintain and install, and it is affordable too. There are many colour, texture, and pattern choices on offer as well. You also have precast concrete pavers, which are modular pavers that come in a vast array of patterns, textures, colours, shapes, and patterns. If you cannot afford natural stone, but you want a unique look, this is a good solution.

Have you considered an alternative, though, like Kelkay Gravel? This is a great way to create a stunning driveway without spending a lot. Gravel is ideal if you want to soften a hardscape and you are seeking something with permeability.

What about brick? Brick works in all climates, has a classic style, and many patterns can be created, with herringbone being one of the most popular. You can add warmth to your garden with the reddish tone of brick, and it is a material that works well with other hardscapes.

Limestone is another paving material. If you want to bring brightness to a shaded area in the garden, this is ideal. Finally, granite is a good option for the colder weather in the UK, as the stone is exceptionally tough and durable.
