It’s amazing how quickly the week whizzes by when you are busy! When you are rushing around it is easy to cut corners and waste money. We had a very large vet bill as well because Dora doesn’t seem herself and needed to be checked out and have some blood tests. It will hopefully be covered by the pet insurance, but I had to pay upfront so can’t afford to splurge too much. So here is my weekly round up and some of the frugal things I have done.
Sorting out the freezer
My daughter is home for Easter and has been helping around the house a lot. She has been right through the freezers, sorting and labelling everything and reminding me what is in there so that I can plan our meals around what we have. I think it is a good idea to do a regular audit of your fridge, freezer and larder so that food doesn’t get wasted.
This week I got together with my favourite group of money bloggers, who are writing about various aspects of finance frugality, bargain hunting, making extra money and personal finance, to run an Easter giveaway. This is a first for me but it has attracted a lot of interest. If you want the chance to win one of three M&S hampers, you can enter here.
Bargain birthday gift
I took advantage of the sale page on the Beauty Naturals website to buy a luxurious Pai gift set for a friend’s birthday, reduced from £20 to £9.90. I like Pai products as they are 100% organic and brilliant for sensitive skin. But they are premium products so are quite pricey. I was really happy to find this deal.
Home made cleaner
I ran out of my home made cleaning spray, so made another batch. This will last us ages.
Using up the bread ends
Since darling daughter found so many bread ends when she did her freezer blitz, I made some of them into bread pudding. I always use this recipe from my old Cranks recipe book. It is made with butter rather than suet, and is so much nicer for it.
And just a reminder if you want 10% off a festival. If you book through my link on this post you can get a discount on the cost of the Green Gathering. This isn’t an affiliate link – I am just happy to promote it!
