Tips For Renting Out Your Home As A Holiday Let

9th March 2020 by shoestringjane@outlook.com Leave a Comment

Being able to make more money with your home is something we’d all like to do. And for some people, that might be possible. A lot of homeowners now are letting out their homes and holidays homes in some capacity in order to make a bit of extra money. If you’re looking at doing the same, here are some tips for renting out your home as a holiday let.

Comply With Any Rules In Place To Make It Rentable

Firstly, you need to make sure that you have got everything in place in order to successfully make your  home something you can rent out. Think about any local rules and laws that are in place when it comes to holiday letting and that your home or property complies with that.

When it comes to airbnb management, for example, there are a number of requirements that you might need in order to go forward. You also need an awareness of what’s involved when you become a host and what’s required of you. Think about these things before you go forward with it, because otherwise you could be breaking some rules or laws that could get you in trouble, whether that be the government or with the developers, you are leased to.

Be Sure To Have The Right Accommodation Type

Next you want to figure out if your accommodation is the right type to be letting out. Some people will let out a room of a house and others will let out the whole property itself.

You need to be aware of what property or room types are acceptable to rent out and to make sure those areas or the property itself is in good working condition. You can’t expect to charge money for something that is in desperate need of an update.

Join Up To Hosting Websites

Hosting websites are a great way to get your accommodation out there and hopefully seen by more potential lodgers. Be careful of where you advertise as certain websites will draw in a certain demographic. The last thing you want is to be picking websites to host on, and you’re getting the weirder clientele that either make you feel uncomfortable or nervous about letting your property out. Always go with websites who vet their customers to some degree and for you to know who they are and their personal details to ensure they’re legitimate before accepting a booking.

Always Ask Customers For Reviews

When it comes to customer reviews, it’s good to think about how these are going to help with you as a host. You want positive feedback in order to encourage other potential lodgers to choose your room or property over someone else’s. So always ask your customers for feedback and display this on whatever websites you use to let out your home.

Renting out your home as a holiday let can be financially beneficial for your household. Make sure you’ve done your research and have made sure you fit the criteria before advertising it as available online.
