Planning a family holiday? In a word: stressful.
Planning any kind of holiday can create stress due to the organisation required to sort international travel, accommodation, domestic travel, food, drink and packing – not to mention the money required for all of the above. Throw in a less-than-grateful partner, more than one picky child, and a few judgemental grandparents, and you have a recipe for disaster.
I exaggerate, of course. This is the worst possible scenario – most families are far more harmonious, and hopefully yours is, too. But the point remains: planning a family holiday is a lot of work, as is orchestrating it. Family vacations should be enjoyable, not stressful. So how do you make your holiday the stress-free experience you deserve it to be?

1# Choose the Right Destination for Everyone
Your first concern, naturally, is destination. How do you pick the right place for everybody, yourself included? Rather than immediately putting it to the vote and getting too many suggestions, put yourself in your family’s shoes, and select a few locations that cater to everyone – adults and children alike.
This means considering age-appropriate activities, the logistics of getting everyone to and from them in one piece, and opportunities for supervised childcare so you can get some alone time
Resorts are an excellent bet if you’re after a slice of sun, and all the better if they provide activities that cater to little ones – like Benidorm’s Magic Natura Animal Waterpark, which offers water parks, zoo experiences and family amenities for an all-in-one, all-inclusive and guaranteed child-exhausting getaway.
2# Plan Your Itinerary Carefully
With so many potential activities, and so many different people to please, your pre-planning skills need to be put fully to work. A good move is to create a flexible schedule that balances the various needs of your family party: namely, relaxation, sightseeing, and of course, kid-friendly entertainment and activities.
On popular resorts like those in Benidorm, activities and experiences can get oversubscribed fast in the peak season. Consider booking popular attractions and experiences in advance, making sure to leave downtime in-between each to avoid burnout.
3# Pack Smart and Prepare for Travel Challenges
Having done all this incredible work in advance, it’s time to involve the family. Share your proposed itinerary with them, and alongside it a packing checklist tailored to everyone’s needs. Each member of the party needs to think about clothes, snacks, and entertainment for their part of the journey, but you need to think about first aid and travel documents for everyone. You can handle these on the family’s behalf, to avoid any missing passports at the airport!
