I’ve been busy getting myself organised this week. You may remember that I was struggling with time management and the adjustment to self-employment. Well, this week, I have started to nail it! I pinched the most amazing income spreadsheet from Emma Reseller. This will be so helpful for tracking my income and doing my tax return. Also, in this week’s five frugal things….
As part of my bid to get super organised and stop my eBay stock from taking over the house, I ordered a new shelving rack from Amazon. This was another recommendation from Emma Reseller, and it’s great.
I initially ordered six 80 Litre Storage Boxes to go on it, but these fit easily just on the bottom shelves, so I ordered three more and three smaller ones. I am filling them up already!
I am now keeping an eye on Facebook Marketplace for a desk and chair to go into my little office.
Fighting the cobwebs
We have three sheds and they all need sorting. I decided to start with the biggest one, as it is water tight and will be a good place for extra storage.
The cobwebs though! Mr S didn’t believe me, but they were like the fake ones you see in horror films! Yuck!
I found some bits to take to the tip and some others which I have put on Facebook, most for nothing as I want them gone quickly.
Some eBay resellers rent storage space. I am saving money by better using the space I have for now.
Part of the reorganisation was to buy a new sofa bed for when the girls come to stay. Luckily we didn’t rush into it as Mr S’s brother had a perfect one going for free. It has barely been used and is green so it matches our lounge. Result!
All the fun of the fair
I absolutely love a traditional summer fete and we went to one at Layer Marney Tower at the weekend. They had stalls, raffles and Morris dancers. We hit the plant stall, as it was so cheap and found a few bargains at the bric a brac one.
We got in for nothing too, as Mr S’s mum lives in the village and gets a free ticket. It was lovely – there is a great view of the countryside from the top of the tower. It is well worth a visit.
Exercising for free
I have been doing very regular exercise. Having been in so much pain with my disc issues, I decided I had nothing to lose by making a concerted effort to get fitter. After a few months, I think my efforts are paying off as I feel much better.
I do 20-30 minutes of stretching first thing and have added in some light weights to tone up my arms. I also walk, but not as often as I should! It tends to be a longish one at the weekend, so I intend to start walking to the post office instead of driving. That would only be a mile, but every little helps if it’s regular.
Once we get back from our holiday I plan to enrol in a Pilates class, but at the moment it’s all free exercise. I have also lost half a stone on Slimming World. Doing well!
This week’s offers
I get sent notifications from various companies each week about special offers but rarely remember to pass any on. This seems a waste, so I have decided to try to remember to do it every week in my Five Frugal Things round up. Here are the latest ones I thought worth passing on.
If you like to keep a present box on the go or are already buying for Christmas, the Body Shop has a buy 2 get one free offer going on skincare and makeup at the moment.
I will let you know if I spot any more good ‘uns for next week’s Five Frugal things.
