If you want to make some extra money this year, there are multiple ways you can boost your income and ensure you can live the life you want instead of struggling.

With the cost of living crisis persisting and incomes under more strain than ever before, many are feeling the pinch. However, by taking proactive steps, you can significantly bolster your finances, providing a sense of relief and the ability to afford what you need without undue stress.

For some quick and easy money-making ideas that don’t require a significant upfront investment, read on. These suggestions are designed to be accessible and manageable for anyone.

Sell Old Devices

If you’re collecting old devices, especially if you received new ones for Christmas or on your birthday, instead of holding onto them, sell them. You can start by researching companies that buy used devices, such as sell my phone companies, laptops, tablets, or gaming equipment. Once you’ve found a potential buyer, ensure that you have ascertained the condition of your device and negotiate a fair price. This can be a quick and easy way to make some extra cash.

Preloved

The preloved market is huge right now for pretty much anything. Apps like Olio make it possible to share unwanted but perfectly edible foodstuffs to reduce waste, and more people than ever before are turning to apps like Vinted to sell unwanted belongings. If you’re due for a clear-out or want to declutter, see what preloved items you have that you can sell and make some money for items that are otherwise collecting dust.

Sell Jewellery

Again, like with the above point, if you have real gold or silver jewellery, there are many ways you can sell it to get some money for it. There are retailers who will buy old jewellery and services that buy gold and silver and give you a set price depending on quality and weight.

Side Hustle

A side hustle is a flexible way to generate additional income. It’s about finding something you can easily do in your spare time, regardless of your skills or experience. Whether it’s dog-walking, house-sitting, or utilising your existing skills in copywriting or graphic design, a side hustle can be a powerful tool to boost your income and give you more control over your financial situation.

Survey and Competitions

Surveys aren’t new, and they aren’t really great money-makers, but they can be a great way to build funds over the year. You can put the money towards buying Christmas gifts, birthdays, presents, paying for holidays, etc. You get to pick and choose what you want to do and when, but signing up or using survey sites can be a great option.

Similarly, entering competitions, especially those that are free to enter, can be a fun way to potentially win items you might otherwise have to buy, meaning you can save money or get items you can sell or put away for gifts. While there’s no guarantee of winning, it can be a fun and potentially rewarding way to pass the time.
