Creating a great look for your home can be pretty straightforward, even when you are on a tight budget. All you need is a bit of imagination, and to think about the things that are important to you. Your home is a place that should be very personal to you, and how you choose to decorate; it says something about your personality. But here are some great looks that you can create without breaking the bank.
Add Some Colour To Your Walls
If you want to give your home some character without spending a fortune, the cheapest way of doing this is to give the walls some colour. You may want to consider creating a feature wall in the stand-out colour of your choice, or you may opt to go the whole hog and paint the entire room.
Remember that you are likely to need to do a couple of coats to get the full coverage. However, if you shop around, you can find emulsion paint relatively cheaply.
Hang Some Posters On Your Walls
Posters are a great way of filling wall space with the things that you love in life. If you have a movie that you are especially fond of or a band that you are incredibly passionate about, why not find a poster that shows your enthusiasm for it. If you shop around online, you can find good quality poster prints for a reasonable price. Buy yourself some poster frames for them, and you will have a real focal point for your walls for a very small amount of cash.
Add Mirrors
Mirrors are great. They create the illusion of lots of space, they brighten a room up, and they are fairly inexpensive. You could opt to have a large mirror fitted on a wall, above a mantelpiece works well, or down a narrow corridor to make it feel wider.
Cushions And Throws
These can often be found very cheaply. Using throws and cushions to dress up your furniture can help them feel much more homely. This is useful if your sofas and chairs are a little bit on the tired side. They’ll appear to have a whole new lease of life without the need to reupholster them.
Chalk Paint
Using chalk paint is an amazing way of bringing old furniture back to life. By sanding down anything that you own that looks scruffy, or tired, you can then paint on a layer of chalk paint to give it a vibrant boho-chic look.
Pick The Right Lighting
Having the right lighting in your home can make a lot of difference. It can set the tone quite dramatically. Think about the kind of look that you want to create, and then find the lighting to suit. Having a standing lamp can create a sense of drama, while other lamps may make your room look cosy. You may want to replace your lampshades to give the room a new aesthetic.
