Want to Buy a Budget Campervan? Here’s what You Need to Know

This is a collaborative post.

A motorhome or a campervan is a fantastic way for you to see the country. If you are undecided, then there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, this guide will help you with your decision by telling you everything you need to know.

What’s the Difference between a Motorhome and a Campervan?

The great thing about a motorhome is that it offers you more facilities. You will have a bathroom, a toilet and better kitchen facilities. You will also have more sleeping facilities and the driving compartment will be separate to the living area too.

A campervan on the other hand is much more back to basics. If you and your partner want something you can travel around in then a camper may be a better option for you. If you want to go travelling with the whole family then a motorhome would be a much better option overall.

What About Depreciation?

If you are buying a new campervan then you’ll be able to avoid paying VAT. There’s a lot to be said about buying a campervan second hand though. To begin with, you should also know that campervans tend to hold their value very well.

It’s never a bad idea to go off tent-size when buying your camper. A two-man tent is ideal for one person and a three-man tent is more suited to two. If you follow this guide then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to get the best result out of your purchase and it also means that people won’t be cramped too.

Fuel Efficiency

Make, model and age all go into determining the campervan for your needs. It’s more than possible for you to find a campervan that can support 35 mpg with ease. If you go for a big campervan on the other hand, although it would be good to have the extra space, you may find that you end up using way more fuel and this can ultimately work against you more than you realise.

Insurance

If you buy a campervan then you’ll need to make sure that you take out insurance. Lifesure have a lot of different campervan policies available so when you go through them, you know that you can find something that is more than suited to your requirements.

Engine immobilisers will drastically lower your premium as well, so make sure that you keep that in mind where possible.

So if you want to make sure that you are getting the best result out of your campervan, then it is always wise for you to try and think about things such as depreciation, insurance, fuel efficiency and space too. If you do this properly, then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to not only save money but for you to also make the most out of your purchase. If you need some additional help, then there are plenty of guides out there that will enable you to know about the brands of campervan and the styles too.
