The Best 4 Ways To Save On Your Energy Bills

23rd July 2021 by shoestringjane@outlook.com Leave a Comment

This is a collaborative post.

Everyone wants to save money on their energy bills, as most of us do feel that we are frequently overpaying in this area. If you feel that way and you want to do something about it fast, then the good news is that there are lots of ways in which you can do just that. In this post, we are going to discuss some of the best of these methods which you might want to think about, so you can ensure that you are saving as much money here as possible – money which might then be able to go elsewhere.

Switch Supplier

More often than not, people could be saving a lot of money that they don’t even realise, and all just by switching suppliers. It is so easy to accidentally fall into the trap of just allowing your contract to renew each year and then each month, but this is quite simply not the best way to approach this at all. Instead, regularly look out for electricity deals and gas deals, and see if you can save money just by switching. More often than not, you can, and this might be all you really need to do.

Install Heating Controls

Heating is where most of the energy in an average home gets spent, so if you can find a way to control your heating levels somewhat you are going to find this naturally leads to a decrease in your bill costs. One of the best ways to do that is to install heating controls, including a room thermostat and a programmer – and then to make sure you actually use them! This is something that can really make a huge difference to your bills over time, and you’ll probably notice just how much very quickly indeed.

Replace Light Bulbs

If you are still using old-style light bulbs, you might want to be aware that you are wasting a lot of energy each day on these inefficient and outdated products. The truth is that LEDs are so much more efficient, so much so that you are going to notice a sharp drop in what you are spending on lighting the moment you switch over. What’s more, they are easy to install and they last around 25,000 hours, so you can be sure that it is a good choice to make overall. There is no reason not to use LEDs.

Cut Out Draughts

It might sound like something that can’t make much difference, but if you can cut out any draughts that your home might have, this has a way of making your heating incredibly more efficient. If you frequently notice that there is a draught, then this is a sign that there is air leaking in or out somewhere, which means you are having to spend more than necessary to heat your home. Find the source, fix it, and you will notice an improvement in your heating bills very soon indeed.

Consider Spray Foam Insulation

Consider more energy-efficient insulation solutions like spray foam to retain even more heat and use less energy. Any good spray foam contractor will be able to install this for you, and they’ll usually remove the old insulation, too. It’s good to consider upgrades like this if your home is many decades old and hasn’t had an insulation change yet.

These are easily the four best things to do, so make sure you do them.
