Calculate how much extra income you will earn by turning your side job into a full-time business. Make sure you have a good emergency fund too. If not, then you may need to carry on with your side job for a bit longer while you save up money to support yourself if things go wrong.

Another sign that your side job is ready to be a full-time business is if it’s taking up more and more of your time. If you love what you do, then there’s nothing wrong with this, but it can cause problems for your family life or any other commitments that you have.

You can tell when your side job is ready to be a full-time business if you are full of great ideas for it. Do you know how to make it even better and more profitable than it is at the moment? If so, then this could be the best time to move forwards with your ideas.
If you have ideas for the business but you are still unsure, you could consider starting a dormant company (learn what a dormant company is) to register the name and trademark. This gives you the freedom to hold onto the name without having to commit to a full-time business just yet.

Finally, sometimes people look for a side job because they are unhappy with their full-time job. If you are fed up with your job and you dread heading into work every day, now might be the right time to turn the side business your love, and have so much enthusiasm for, into a full-time job.
Going full-time with a side job is always a risk, but the rewards can be huge if you are ready to take the plunge.
