My eyelids are drooping as I type this. What a tiring day! We decided to sell our old stuff at the boot sale so it was up at 5 am. Annoyingly – I think because I knew I had to wake really early – I hardly slept a wink, so it will be an early night for me tonight.
Boiling at the boot sale

It was a boiling hot day with lots of sellers already set up when we arrived. However, there weren’t as many buyers as we had hoped. I wonder if they were all at the beach on such a beautiful bank holiday weekend?
Financially we did OK, although it could have been better. We were super organised with a float, bags, food, drink, sun cream, hats, deckchairs, etc. Me, my daughter and lodger Katie were all selling and my mum and dad popped along for a nose round too. They love a good boot sale – that must be where I get it from!

My hints on how to sell at a boot sale are here if you have never done one.
We took all of the clothes that didn’t sell straight to the charity shop, so that’s one job done. The bric-a-brac is in the shed, as mum wants me to help her at a table top sale in the Autumn so I will hopefully get rid of most of that there.

Anyway, I thought I had better sort our dinners for the week before I conk out altogether! A quick and easy meal plan is the thing when it’s this warm.
This week’s quick and easy meal plan
Saturday
As I knew I wouldn’t want to do much cooking today after the boot sale, I got some chicken breasts out of the freezer. We are having those cooked and mixed with pasta and tomato sauce. There is a little bit of Slimming World crumble left (mentioned in this post), so we will finish that with some custard.
Sunday
Salmon, salad and new potatoes. It will be another hot day, so we want something light.
Monday
We are out for the day, so I am not planning anything. We will take a picnic, but it is likely we will buy dinner somewhere. A day off Slimming World I think!
Tuesday
Sardine spaghetti, with chard and courgettes from the garden. Again, a light and easy dinner for the current heat wave and a good choice for a quick and easy meal plan. I generally do something similar to this recipe, although I tend to use sardines in tomato sauce.
Wednesday
Smoky chicken with chick peas, rice and whatever veg needs using from the garden. This uses smoked paprika, which I love!
Thursday
Ham and sweetcorn omelettes with grilled tomatoes and air fried potatoes. The tomatoes are ripening quickly in the greenhouse now. They taste so much nicer than shop bought ones.
Friday

Home made ratatouille with pasta and reduced fat cheddar. This is a staple at the moment, with our home grown courgettes.
I am still doing Slimming World, and all of the above can be made SW friendly with a few adaptations. I hope to become a target member next week.
What do you think of my quick and easy meal plan? I hope you aren’t too hot if you are the UK (and you probably realise we are massive light weights when it comes to the heat if you live elsewhere!) and have a great bank holiday weekend.
I am joining in with Katy Kicker for this week’s meal planning linky. Hop over and see what she is eating this week.

It seems a bad night’s sleep is often the way, the night before an early start isn’t it. Hope you catch up tonight.
I’m loving this weather – 25-30 degrees is the perfect temperature for me. Yesterday I was on a 5-6 mile walk that took in 2 of the biggest hills in London, but today I’m going to be relaxing with extended family while they host our sort-of-annual summer get together..
Have a lovely bank holiday.

Thanks, Julia. You too!

I’ve not been to a boot sale for years! I’d love to do one now but I’m not sure the kids would behave all day. Your meals sound great and so easy to prepare.

I love that you took the unsold clothes straight to the charity shop. I bet you feel great for having a sort out! Sounds like a delicious meal plan, and thanks, as always, for linking up!

Ahh! I do love a car boot sale. They are so tiring, especially if you’re selling.
Great meal plan. I love the sound of the ratatouille. x

I would love to do a bootsale however, do not have the dedication to get up that early. Think I will be sticking to eBay for the time being.
