Helping Your Employer Save Money

6th January 2021 by shoestringjane@outlook.com Leave a Comment

This is a collaborative post.

As a result of the global pandemic, many companies have had to close their doors for good, leaving lots of people unemployed.

If you’re lucky enough to still be working with the same employer, it might be worth considering some ways you can help them cut back on costs to ensure they stay afloat during this challenging time. After all, reduced outgoings are basically the same as increased revenue.

Start by doing some research to identify areas where your company are overspending. Consider areas they may be able to cut back on, like marketing, production, or administration.

Do staff travel for business meetings when they could simply start video conferencing? Are your colleagues using the technology responsibly by shutting down their devices each evening to save on utility bills?

Do you all ask for the latest equipment and software, even though it provides little to no demonstrable productivity improvements? Managed print solutions are a great way to reduce printing costs and improve efficiency.

You should also consider your own efficiency; are there any ways you can perhaps increase your productivity by altering your way of working? Consider breaking down large chunks of work into smaller, more manageable pieces to prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.

You should also take regular, but short, breaks away from your desk to avoid things like eye strain and aches and pains. Improving your own output will help the company save money on wasted resource.

Present any findings to those in charge, while adhering to company values. By approaching your superiors with your aims to help them save money, you will prove your loyalty as an employee, and it is sure to be appreciated.

What’s more, your boss may have some ideas of their own to help you with your pursuits. Perhaps they can encourage the rest of the team to become savvier when using company supplies. After all, every little helps.
