What I have discovered since I began Slimming World is that with a bit of common sense and know how it’s really easy to adapt recipes to make them low syn or even syn free. It is also really easy to eat family food on a budget and still follow the plan. Best of all, you can eat as much pasta as you like, which everyone loves! So here are some ideas for cheap and easy Slimming World pasta meals that we have tried and enjoyed.
Cheap and easy ideas for Slimming World pasta meals
Spaghetti bolognese
Make it SW friendly by using turkey mince or very lean beef mince and Frylight instead of oil. Have a big salad with fat free dressing and forget the garlic bread.
Skinny meatballs
You can pick up lean meatballs in most supermarkets these days. Make a quick tomato sauce with onions and garlic sauteed in Frylight, tinned tomatoes and lots of herbs. Serve with your favourite pasta and lots of speed vegetables, such as spinach and broccoli.
Tuna with olives and penne
We make this a lot – it is a family favourite. The recipe is here. Simply replace the oil with Frylight and syn the olives (but 8 olives in brine is only about 1.5 syns). I sometimes also add mushrooms and a cupful of grated carrot – it’s really nice! Make sure you use tuna in brine and not oil.
Carbonara
I absolutely love pasta with carbonara sauce but the original recipe is packed with cheese and cream! Not healthy at all. This recipe from A Pinch of Nom manages to keep that original salty and creamy taste with far fewer calories as is the favourite of my Slimming World pasta meals collection so far.
Macaroni
Everyone’s fave macaroni cheese is pretty much off the menu if you are cutting back on the fat. However, Slimming World do a delicious vegetarian macaroni dish that is really filling and super healthy. Mac ‘n’ greens contains cauliflower, broccoli and kale and tops it off with a beany sauce.
Pasta salad
A pasta salad is great for lunch boxes or a light dinner. It can be easily made with loads of chopped veg, a dressing of low fat mayo mixed with fat free yogurt and plenty of seasoning.
However, there are some good recipes to be found. This Fruity Pasta Salad is absolutely gorgeous! I don’t usually like dishes that are sweet and savoury, but I made an exception for this one and it’s lovely.
What about pesto?
Pesto is traditionally rammed full of oil and cheese. However this Slimming World pesto recipe cuts the cheese and replaces it with quark and lots of fresh herbs. It’s really fresh and healthy tasting.
I would swirl the pesto into rigatoni pasta with some broccoli and cherry tomatoes.
I think all of these Slimming World pasta meals would be enjoyed by pretty much everyone in the family.

I do wish I liked pasta (can’t stand it) as there are so many meals to make. It’s so inexpensive and filling and would be so useful.
So, I’m afraid I can’t answer your question!
