I have been super busy over the last couple of weeks, but feel like I have have got a lot done. With all this running around, I haven’t felt like doing lots of fussy cooking and have been focusing on cheap and easy Slimming World choices that are quick to make too.
I find it surprisingly easy to do Slimming World. I have tried very prescriptive diet plans in the past. They entailed lots of expensive ingredients and time consuming recipes.
I want to lose weight and eat healthily without spending hours in the kitchen.
Hopefully this week’s meal plan reflects this, but first – snacking!
I have said before that I am a snacker. It is the main reason for my middle aged spread arriving I think!
Some cheap and easy Slimming World ideas for snacks that I like are as follows (ignore the references to Syns if you aren’t a devotee. I am allowed 7-15 Syns a day):
Hard boiled eggs. These are free food.
Low fat cheddar cut into pieces. A 40g bit can be one of my healthy extra a choices or a 25g bit can be 4 Syns.
I might have it on a crispbread or rice cake, which are 1.5 Syns a piece.
Low fat cheese triangles, which are 2.5 Syns each or I can have 4 as my healthy extra a choice.
French Fries, 3 or 4 Syns depending on the brand.
Fat free Greek yogurt, which is a free food.
Sugar free jelly set with fresh berries from the garden. These are only 2 Syns per sachet and I only eat about a quarter.
Fresh fruit is free and I eat tons of it.
Carrot and celery sticks – both free food.
Anyway, onto the meal planning!
Cheap and easy Slimming World meal plan
We are out for the evening at a party. I will save all my Syns for the evening and no doubt go way over them on the Prosecco!
I plan to have a healthy snack before I go to take the edge off
my appetite and stop me digging into the crisps.
Spaghetti Bolognese made with very lean beef. Chard from the garden.
Cheese and pepper tortilla using some low fat cheddar. We will have a salad of lettuce, tomato and grated carrot with this.
If I’m really hungry I will put some spuds in the air fryer.
Haddock, new potatoes, chard and peas. I will make up a packet sauce using skimmed milk.
A whole pack of sauce is 4.5 Syns and I will eat around a third. I tend to use some milk and some of the liquid the fish cooks in – usually a little stock.
Chicken casserole and rice. If I don’t have much time I will use a jar of Spanish sauce as that is pretty low fat.
Low Syn mozarella stuffed chicken from a Pinch of Nom. This looks pretty straightforward.
Hard boiled egg and tuna salad with new potatoes. A super cheap and easy Slimming World choice.
Making the most of my air fryer
I have been using my air fryer loads at lunch times. As you can’t eat a lot of bread on Slimming World, I quite often have something like poached eggs, grilled tomatoes and some form of potato.
Left over spuds are brilliant in the air fryer. They crisp up really well. I make patties out of left over mash and they are lovely. Even tinned potatoes come out of the air fryer tasting good. I put a bit of paella seasoning on them.
So that is my cheap and easy Slimming World meal plan for the week, plus my plan for snacks. Very important!
