Positive Thinking and Money Saving

Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” – Henry Ford

I was on a very interesting course on coaching today for work, and already I feel it will be beneficial not just for my job but for my life. It is aimed at making me a better manager and coaching my team to help them identify their goals and how to achieve them.  Day 2 is tomorrow!

The trainer used the Henry Ford quote. He was talking about our beliefs about ourselves, our families, our situations, and that sometimes these could lead to good outcomes (eg Richard Branson believes he can be successful, so these beliefs mean that he makes certain choices in his life and he is successful) or be very limiting. For example, you believe you are a bad driver, so you are nervous driving, you avoid driving, you become a bad driver. Or you are told all of your life that you are bad and will never achieve anything, you may well struggle to believe you can do anything and therefore not bother trying. It is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So….making it all relevant to my blog, if I believe I can control my finances, find ways to make extra money, make my mortgage payments, find ways to enjoy my life and be happy without spending lots of cash, then I can!!!!

Certainly a positive outlook on life, whatever we do, can only help.

Usually I work on a business park with a single shop and very few temptations to spend money. I take my lunch every day and my own tea and coffee. Today I was sent to County Hall and I thought I would do the same there. I brought a mug, milk and teabags, and because I knew there was a microwave I had the remains of last night’s stir fry for my lunch.

chelmsford 2Rather than wander round the many wonderful shops and be tempted to spend, I had a sit on the balcony and looked out over the roof-tops of Chelmsford and all the people rushing around below me. It wasn’t the most beautiful view, but the sun was blazing and it was really peaceful.

I have also had a message from a local health club who need a yoga teacher for the new year, so it is looking hopeful that I will have a further source of income in that direction. Watch this space!
