No Spend Saturday!

Glorious day today. We took advantage of our RHS membership and had a walk round Hyde Hall Gardens in Rettendon. We have been loads of times this year and seen the garden through the seasons. It has been excellent value and has meant a big discount off our tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show tickets last summer plus the Hampton Court Show next year.

imageWe didn’t bother with the shop or the cafe though – that’s when it starts to get expensive! We took a flask and some gluten free chocolate brownies I made.

I have been exploring the contents of my store cupboard this week. For some reason I have a lot of dried chick peas! They rarely get used because they involve so much soaking and cooking. I decided to prepare a whole bag of them and freeze some so that I can use them in soups and stews, or maybe make a chick pea curry or hummus. We will have a nice winter chick pea stew done in the slow cooker on Monday to kick off as this will be easy after work before I shoot off to my yoga class.

I have some lentils, rice and noodles to wade through before I buy any more store cupboard staples so this should keep the grocery bills within budget.

imageI am off to dinner with my girlfriends tonight. I still have a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge from when they last came to me so I shall take that.

So, apart from the diesel we used getting to Hyde Hall, today has been a no spend day. I need to have as many of these as possible to stay on track over the festive period.
